Overview of a Typical Chapel Session

A typical Chapel program is 20 minutes and usually follows this format:

  • Opening Entrance song - a quiet song played while the children walk into Chapel and sit down
  • Welcome and Opening - theme introduction; sometimes includes one or more of the SongStory Tools
  • Unit Song - used all month long; a high-energy song
  • Scripture Memory Verse - only one verse per unit; taught in echo format, using some American Sign Language
  • Truth Nugget - rhythmic sayings combining scripture and unit theme
  • ScripSong - short, catchy tunes combining scripture and unit theme
  • Unit Song - used all month long; memorable but slower pace
  • Story/Lesson - a Bible story told with props; occasionally an object lesson
  • Prayer with Puppet Friend
  • SongStory Tool
  • Closing Exit Song - a repeat of one of the Unit Songs
